List of Tasks for Student Teachers
1. Visit Dr. Lin’s teaching website http://www2.uhv.edu/linh/drlin.htm
for the update news to student teachers. If you have any question before
fall
semester starts, use your personal e-mail to contact me at linh@uhv.edu with
subject of student teachers fall 2008. You should have received at least one
e-mail from me at this time. If you haven’t received any e-mail from me, please
e-mail me.
2. We will need to work together before the fall semester starts. Without your
personal e-mail address, I won’t be able to reach you effectively. You are
welcome to contact me, if you have any difficulty or concern of student
teaching. Please make sure check your e-mail and visit my website frequently to
keep up with the announcements.
3. If you haven’t received a student teacher letter from UHV by
8/4/08, e-mail
me. I will help your to find out your placement arrangements.
4. Send letters to mentor teachers before
8/15/08. Write your mentor teacher a
letter of appreciation before you start your student teaching. Save a photo copy
for records.
5. Meet you mentor teachers before their semester star. Print copies of
Student Teacher Handbook from UHV School of
Education website (http://www.uhv.edu/edu/Certification/StdntTchngHandbook/StudentTeacherHandbook.pdf)
and give it to your mentor teachers, when you first meet them.
6. First Day School Experience: Visit your school district website and find the
first day of fall semester. Make arrangement with your mentor teachers to
observe first day of fall semester in your student teaching school. Write up a
summary for that day and prepare a written summary of how you will plan for and
carry out your first day of school.
7. Draft your resume
8. Create mini-autobiography: The student teachers should include 3 strengths
and 3 words that others would use to describe you. This question seems to come
up a lot in interviews. The student teachers should also include a write up
about the expectations of a teacher according to the school district they wish
to be in by visiting the school website.
9. Write up classroom management plan
10. Write up philosophy of education/teaching philosophy
11. Download job application form at the school district that you plan to teach
and fill out the form.

starting student teaching.

14. Get your Tuberculin Test done and give your result copy to your degree
counselor.
15. You will need to have a
tuberculosis test done and copies of your results given to Ms. Jennifer Ripple. Keep the original for yourself. If you don’t have health insurance
or your health insurance doesn’t cover the cost for TB test, you may want to
check out the following places for TB test.
